There is also a lot of sharing from one member to another of not just thoughts, but abilities and possibly even personality traits.
Nathanial has a sudden insight as to why Anita has such a hard time controling the Ardour, and they struggle to deal with that, at the same time, Anita is working a serial killer case with the police where the murders are vampires.

This is the eighth book in the Anita Blake series.
Richard has been spending summers in Tennassee, studying trolls, working on his masters degree. Since Anita and Richard are not currently seeing each other this has not been a dificultly for Anita. Until Anita gets a call late one night from Richard’s brother, Richard has been arrested for attempted rape, and the full moon is only 5 days away. At the same time, Anita’s boss, Bert, has hired a new animator to help, because Anita is having to spend so much time working with the police. Anita is late for his first night and barely saves him from losing control of a zombie. Anita quickly takes Larry under her wing, not only to train him as a animator, but also as a vampire hunter.
There is an ancient vampire in town, who believes that vampires should not be legal, and is after Anita to give him the name of the Master of the City so that he can kill him. Anita is reluctant, but at the same time, Edward has again been hired to kill the Master of the City, can she stand up to both of them and does she want to keep Jean Claude safe from them?
This book also has the first appearance of the werewolves, and Richard.
Blood Noir ~ Laurell Hamilton
I keep coming back to this one, I really enjoy it. I think it is partly because it is mostly just Anita and Jason, two charicters I really like, but I also like the appearance that Richard makes and some of the developements between Richard and Anita… Anita spends far less time fighting her powers and the changes that may be required because of them in this book, which is another thing I really like. I did not miss the constant angst that Anita seems to cause herself over every development.
