This is the fourth book in the Cassandra Palmer series.

Cassie is still trying to learn exactly what her job is. The Silver Circle is trying to put her on trial and get rid of her, and she is unsure how to deal with her vampire husband. Cassie needs to find someone who can train her, and give her at least some idea of what she is supposed to be doing with her new powers. At the same time she is trying to form an alliance with the Silver Circle and possibly between the Silver Circle and the Senate. But can she and Pritkin stay alive long enough to manage that or one of her many enemies manage to capture or kill her first?
