Lacy is drawn to the a cowboy in the bar she works in, but is determined not to fall for another rodeo cowboy, it only lead to her being hurt the last time, and she refuses to do it again. She is working, going to school, and trying to deal with a child who is seriously ill and in the hospital, she doesn’t have time to get involved with anyone.

Wyatt sees that Lacy is motivated by money, but can’t help being drawn to her anyway. Can he convince her to take a chance on him? Is there more to her than her first appearance.

This is the Thirteenth book in the Anita Blake series.

When Larry’s wife Tammy goes into preterm labor, Anita takes on a job for Larry, an animating job for a federal court case, requiring that the animator be a Federal Marshal. Because of the Ardour, Anita cannot go alone, so Micah goes with her. Once on location, Anita finds that the FBI Agent in charge, is the same agent who was on the case when Micah was attacked and became a wereleopard. Anita learns the story of how Micah was infected, which she had never asked about because it was an attack. When Anita attempts to raise the zombie for court, difficulties occur, both in her powers and in the court case.

This is the fifth book in the Paladin series.

Gwen’s hounds lead her out into the forest one night, to discover a severely injured man, who is healing way to fast to be normal, since she her brother heals quickly as well, she takes him back to her house and treats the wounds.

Jarvis is surprized to wake in a house instead of the lab, but quicklyl discovers that he has found another young Paladin, who needs some training, and to be introduced to his fate. But Jarvis is also drawn to Gwen. Can he keep from becoming too involved with her?

At the same time she is trying to deal with her own emotional hang ups about Nathanial, and the rest of her men, while trying to rebuild her relationship with Ronnie too.  Once Anita determines that there is a rogue master, powerful enough that neither Malcolm  or Jean-Claude has sensed him, in town, she knows they are in for more trouble, but can she survive the battle?
